Mendel’s nemesis, Carl von Nägeli (1817–1891), his correspondent for 7 years. Who not only failed to repeat and to confirm Mendel on hand of seed samples and instructions provided by Mendel as it were on a “golden platter,” but then seems (conveniently?) to have forgotten that at one time he had had in hand a copy of Mendel’s paper with the letters and seed samples from Mendel (q.v.
